Sometimes for construction, public safety, or other reasons, it might be necessary to obtain a well water report from the water regulatory bodies in the State of Texas. As in most states, water wells in Texas are subject to various regulations and reporting standards. The reports are held in archives by the Texas Water Development Board and other regulatory bodies that work with water well drilling companies in the state. This makes it possible to obtain the reports to find the information you’re looking for; however, before you inquire about obtaining specific reports, you might have to provide some information of your own. Here is what you will need.

The first thing you will need to do is collect some basic information about the well in question. If it’s at all possible, you should find out who the original owner of the well was, when it was drilled, what purpose it served, what its original depth was, and any structural or functional changes since construction. You should be able to get this information from the current owner, or by looking back at records from water well drilling companies that might have been involved in its construction. Once you have this, you should be able to use it to get further information.

There are a few different organizations that monitor and regulate water wells in Texas. Any of these organizations can provide you with valuable information about the well that you are investigating. Some of these organizations and regulatory bodies include the Texas Water Development Board, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. There will be some overlap of information between all of these organizations, mainly when it comes to basic, technical information, such as license numbers and registration dates. Beyond that each organization can provide you with different information, and you will find different ones more or less helpful depending on the information you are looking for. However, it is still a good idea to go to as many organizations as possible when seeking information on Texas wells and water well drilling companies, as this way you will get a much more complete picture of the well and its history.

Picking through well history information might seem like daunting work, but sometimes its necessary to judge the need for maintenance, to find out about construction restrictions in the area, to determine if the well is still up to standards and meeting regulation and most importantly, to determine that it is still capable of providing clean, safe water. Maintaining health and safety standards is worth the time and effort it takes to seek out information and fortunately, many Texas water well organizations will be more than willing to help you out.
